Bowie on Selfish Work

I had an early call with Australia today so for practical reasons made use of my old iMac, now resident in my daughter's room. After a quick desktop tidy, I happened upon a screen grab of a quote which I believe was from one of the many newsletters I subscribe to.
All my big mistakes are when I try to second-guess or please an audience. My work is always stronger when I get very selfish about it.
It's from David Bowie and is a perhaps timely reminder that sometimes being selfish with our vision, and listening to our inner voice, will produce better results.
